The Acropolis of Ancient Greece was the polis nuclei for holding meetings among the politai. Acropoleis are a common feature found in many other cultures throughout the world, (but with different names), therefore represent a human commonality for democratic discourse within socially advanced societies.
Anthropolis
WHAT IT IS
Anthropolis is a multidisciplinary industrial design studio with an emphasis on anthropology and biomimetics. In combination with the anthropological study of human history, the objective is to observe natures 3.8 billion years of R&D for the development of products and services which operate within natural laws and are equitable to all life. To create sustainable industrial practices through an understanding of anthropological, environmental, and ecological limits to avoid insidious false needs and planned obsolescence. We provide alternative community lifestyles for those seeking agency from corporate dependence.
WHAT IT ISN'T
Anthropolis has no political affiliation but is a response to a higher authority than all human-centric institutions. Anthropolis places trust in the mandate of the eco directive for establishing sustainable solutions for human conduct through the study of global ecology. At its core, the Anthropolis mission is the establishment of a universal culture for those interested in a sustainable alternative, which we are confident will lead by example. We have no interest in contributing to or participating in culture warfare, as it is counterproductive to our mission.

Pete Ward
Pete was born on the Flathead Indian Reservation in Hot Springs Montana and has since lived in towns with indigenous populations in California, Oregon, Hawaii, and British Columbia. He has also lived in cities such as Sacramento, San Fransisco, and Paris, France. The influence of subsistent based cultures and time in nature—juxtaposed to consumer society and corporate environments—has greatly influenced his understanding of community contribution and access to nature as fundamental aspects of the human experience. “I am not so bold as to claim I have all the answers for creating a truly functional society, although I have made it my life mission to envision some version. It is my belief that an understanding of universal human needs, as opposed to subjective culture, is the key to creating unity and harmony within our divided societies and species. Regardless of what political party my perspective may seem to align with, I do not subscribe to any of the cultural based options currently being offered. I do not recognize the authority of those who continue to perpetuate an infinite growth model on a finite planet, my loyalty is to those who understand our place in global ecology working toward a sustainable future. It has been through the field of industrial design and viewing the laws of nature as above the rules of culture which has led me down the path of discovery to the conclusions on which I have arrived. It was through my questioning of extraneous products and services which led to my understanding of the extent to which capitalism has created a parallel universe to what we could have created had we chosen a nearly polar opposite version of industry and governance. Government which could benefit all of humanity, not just a select few. Industry which could stay within the limits of nature, sustaining the global ecosystem and our place within it.”
Industrial Design
"Industrial Design is a strategic problem-solving process that drives innovation, builds business success and leads to a better quality of life through innovative products, systems, services and experiences. Industrial Design bridges the gap between what is and what’s possible. It is a trans-disciplinary profession that harnesses creativity to resolve problems and co-create solutions with the intent of making a product, system, service, experience or a business, better. At its heart, Industrial Design provides a more optimistic way of looking at the future by reframing problems as opportunities. It links innovation, technology, research, business and customers to provide new value and competitive advantage across economic, social and environmental spheres. Industrial Designers place the human in the center of the process. They acquire a deep understanding of user needs through empathy and apply a pragmatic, user centric problem solving process to design products, systems, services and experiences. They are strategic stakeholders in the innovation process and are uniquely positioned to bridge varied professional disciplines and business interests. They value the economic, social and environmental impact of their work and their contribution towards co-creating a better quality of life." - The Professional Practice Committee
